It is proven that fine hair tends to be oily and weak so it needs both strong cleansers and lightweight conditioner. It has 50% less protein than thicker hair. It is especially important in the summer time to keep your hair protected against the summer sun no matter if it is fine or thick.
Look for styling products with a built in sun protection factor like Aveda’s Sun care Hair, a color safe formula that gently and effectively removes, chlorine, salt, and product build up while helping to maintain moisture balance. Bear in mind that products that contain alcohol can dry your hair out even faster in the sun, so unless your hair needs to be styled, avoid products containing alcohol, or any other substance that would typically dry out hair. Also be aware that the SPF will wash out if you go swimming or sweat the same rules that apply to sunscreen on your face apply here. Having your hair blocked from the sun is another way to protect it, try braiding your hair so that all of the hair is not exposed to the sun to be damaged or just simply wear a hat. Remember that you don't want the hair closest to your scalp the healthiest hair on your head to get damaged. These tips can help protect your hair from damage this summer and help keep your locks full. |

Many people suffer from dry skin; if you are one of them you are not alone. Dry skin is very common and has many symptoms including flakiness, itch, redness, and ashiness. Follow these simple rules and you will be on your way to cure, prevent and relieve dry rough skin and enjoy smooth, soft touchable, glowing healthy skin. Firstly make sure you are getting the proper amount of rest each night this is not the first time we have mentioned this it is also important to get enough rest to fight acne. The three minute moisture rule is also apparent, apply moisturizer to your face while it is still damp after washing. Of course make sure that you do not rub your skin when drying it off, instead simply pat your skin dry with a soft towel. To assure that your skin is healthy and smooth be sure to follow these steps and moisturize often with Aveda's Botanical Kinetics hydrating moisturizer. The entire line is proven to decrease the amount of dry skin that is produced with frequent usage. |

Today's lawn mowers have come a long way since the clunky behemoths of the 50's and 60's. A lightweight manual reel mower can cut your lawn maintenance related greenhouse gas emissions and help the environment; while providing you with some added exercise. |

Have you heard of headmapping? |
|
Wednesday, 19 May 2010 00:00 |
Isn't it a great feeling to go to your hair designer knowing that he or she knows exactly what color you receive and how to apply it the to your liking each visit? This is all thanks to Head Mapping that has been implemented into each color service at Josephine's and salons all over the nation. HeadMapping accounts for each step of the color service, effectively applying a discipline that turns the color process into an exact science while embracing creative freedom. The system defines areas of the head into specific sections, creating a “map” that determines exactly how much time, product and cost is required to perform each service. This gives each guest a consistent pricing and trusted results. The color systems’ process also allows for a unique team approach to color services within the salon. With prior teamwork situations, multiple service providers working on one customer would often create a negative outcome, as too many hands involved would detract from the final product. Yet with a specified set of practices employed for each client, colorists can now collaborate on services, creating an artistic and inspirational whole that is greater than the sum of its parts.

Josephine's efforts to help clean up the Gulf |

Over the last year Josephine's has been working with the “Matter of Trust” Non profit organization in an effort to clean up access oil in our precious oceans. All hair that is cut at Josephine’s is delivered to “Matter of Trust” to produce Oil Spill hair mats. Hair that is collected by “Matter of Trust” is threaded together to produce mats that are tossed out to sea to collect access oil. Have you ever noticed that your hair becomes very oily after not washing it for a few days? Hair is one of the most absorbent materials out there which is why it has been so useful in the face of recent oil spill pollution disasters. In San Francisco, human hair demonstrated its effectiveness for an oil spill cleanup in 2007 when a ship ran into the Bay Bridge and started leaking oil. When 58,000 gallons of fuel oil spilled from the container ship Cosco Busan, volunteers headed to the beaches armed with mats made out of human hair and was able to absorb more than 22,000 gallons. All the hair mats that soaked up the sticky globs of oil came from “Matter of Trust”. “Matter of trust” is back in action and so is Josephine’s more than ever since the recent catastrophic explosion that caused an oil spill from a BP offshore drilling rig in the Gulf of Mexico April 30th. The spill is releasing 5,000 barrels of oil per day. With the help of salons and volunteers around the country more than 450,000 pounds of hair has been collected with 200 pounds and counting collected by Josephine’s. The hair is being sent directly to the Matter of Trust warehouse near the Gulf. Learn more about “Matter of Trust” oil spill hair mats and how you can help today by visiting http://bit.ly/coBfve.
