April was a very busy month at Josephine's as we celebrated Earth Month 2010. We want to thank those that donated to this effort to make our earth a better place to live in thank you so much for all of your support! Because of your support and willingness to help we were able to exceed our 2010 Earth month goal for global and local clean water projects by earning a total $7,059.41 which puts us at close to $20,000 raised over the last 6 years.
With each blue man and women you purchased as well as the Aveda Light the Way™ Candle, made with certified organic French lavender, 100% of the proceeds went to support Global Green grants Fund's (GGF) water-related projects. Sunday April 25th Josephine's Day Spa and Salon participated in this year's presentation of Houston Hair Jam brought to you by the Houston Aveda Institute in an effort to raise funds for Aveda Earth Month 2010. UVA rays cause skin aging, wrinkling and contribute to skin cancer. Because UVA rays pass effortlessly through the ozone layer, they make up the majority of our sun exposure. Beware of tanning beds because they use UVA rays. A UVA tan does not help protect the skin from further sun damage; it merely produces color and a false sense of protection from the sun. UVB rays are also dangerous, causing sunburns, cataracts, and immune system damage. They also contribute to skin cancer. Melanoma, the most dangerous form of skin cancer, is thought to be associated with severe UVB sunburns that occur before the age of 20. Most UVB rays are absorbed by the ozone layer, but enough of these rays pass through to cause serious damage. There are ways you can protect your skin from skin terror by using SPF cover up as well as shading yourself from the sun. Aveda's makeup line has SPF protection in all foundations and renews up to 32% improvement in skin softness and up to 16% increase in radiance upon application. |
